Community members will have the opportunity to hear more about the proposed Canso Spaceport project in Guysborough Co. Thursday.
An open house is being held at St. Agnes Parish Centre in Little Dover.
Steve Matier, the president and CEO of Maritime Launch Services, says previous open houses have included discussion about what the project is, but this will be more in-depth.
Matier tells The Hawk results from a firm will be revealed.
“This one is basically presenting what Strum (Consulting) has found as a result of their environmental assessment- all the field work that they’ve been doing over the last almost 12 months, 10 months at least, in collecting data in the area.”
Matier says it’s an information session, but they’re able to answer questions as well.
He says some things they want to explain are final footprint, possible wetland issues and moose findings.
Matier says they’ve been hearing residents want to support the project.
“It’s been that support all the way along, as we’ve started from the nucleus in Little Dover, Hazel Hill, Canso, that has really made this project take off,” he says. “If it wasn’t for that support, we wouldn’t be here.”
The open house, which is a drop-in format, gets underway at 3 p.m., and continues until 7 p.m.
