Municipal officials in Inverness Co. say they’re moving toward hiring a new chief administrative officer.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie, the warden of the municipality, says councillors have conducted interviews, and hope to make an announcement very soon.
She originally said they’d hope to have someone in place by the end of November; Joe O’Connor, the municipality’s former CAO, retired Oct. 1.
MacQuarrie tells The Hawk they had a trio of excellent interviews, which is a good problem to have.
“That’s what we’re dealing with, and we’re dealing with it with the best of our ability,” she says. “The whole council- the six of us- we’ve come to a decision.”
MacQuarrie says they hope to make an official announcement by the middle of January.
She says it will take a two-way effort of councillors teaching and familiarizing the incoming hire with municipal standards, and the new CAO learning how it goes.
