Brian Marchand says some of the services that became regionalized helped some municipalities, but hurt others including Richmond Co.
PVSC reps presented to county councillors at their regular meeting Monday night.
After the meeting, Marchand told The Hawk from his understanding, money from Nova Scotia Power officials goes to provincial officials- that gets divided up.
“Everybody gets a portion of that, but keep in mind it’s not only the generating plants that’s the infrastructure,” he said. “People have major transmission lines and infrastructure in all their areas so they get a portion of money maybe based on that.”
Marchand said based on information he’s been given, if they received the actual revenue from two plants, they’d have over $1, 000, 000 in extra tax revenue.
He said if their uniform assessment includes those plants, it needs to be backed out of the formula.
Marchand said he’ll work with PVSC reps to see what’s possible.
