There have been five board-wide, weather-related cancellation days so far in 2018.
Ford Rice, Superintendent, says most of the storms have been forecasted beforehand and sometimes work can be done or prepared ahead of time.
He says March has been the worst month the last number of years, so they’re hoping for an early spring.
After Wednesday night’s school board meeting, Rice said they’re keeping an eye on the count.
“We’ve had a number of days so far this year, but at this point in time, we’re closely monitoring those days in relation to where we are in the winter,” he said. “We’re closely monitoring these days and we will continue to monitor them.”
Rice said if any additional days are needed at the end of the year, the decision would be made by someone else; it’s not his call.
