The StFX X-Men have pulled even with the Acadia Axemen in their AUS men’s hockey semi-final series.
StFX shutout Acadia 3-0 in game two of the best-of-five series at the Keating Centre in Antigonish Friday night.
Jagger Dirk and Cole MacDonald, both on the power play, scored for the X-Men in the second period; Sam Studnicka added a short-handed goal in the third.
Chase Marchand stopped 23 shots for the shutout.
After the game, Brad Peddle, the head coach of StFX, told The Hawk he was impressed with how his team responded after a 4-2 loss in the series opener one night earlier.
“Start to finish, it was 60 minutes of what we expect, and guys were engaged,” he said. “Every guy played a part- whether it was a guy that played eight shifts or 20 shifts, every guy played a part.”
The series shifts to Wolfville for games three and four Sunday and Monday night.
A fifth and deciding game, if necessary, will be back in Antigonish Thursday night.
