The warden of Antigonish County says a road in the area will hopefully see some upgrades soon.
Owen McCarron says Lloyd Hines, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister and Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie MLA, is aware of the importance of the Antigonish Guysborough Rd., and it’ll receive a good amount of maintenance this year.
He says it’s not on the gravel road improvement program this year, but it should be dealt with in the following year.
McCarron tells The Hawk a lot it’ll be nice to have work done in the area.
“I think really the next step would be the bridge out at Caledonia Mills; it’s a narrow, one-lane bridge,” he says. “The minister expressed to me, the need for a priority to be put on that bridge.”
McCarron says the bridge is the key piece before getting upgrades to the road.
He says it’s a key link between both counties.
McCarron says he hopes the Antigonish Guysborough Rd. could be paved in the future.
