Inverness Co.’s warden says municipal officials are trying to fix their cell coverage issue the best they can.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie says they’re planning a meeting with counterparts from different levels of government and service providers.
She says they know they wouldn’t be getting service for free, but they’re in budget talks now and they’d hope for support from federal and provincial officials.
MacQuarrie tells The Hawk Alfred Poirier, the county’s deputy warden, voiced concern about lack of access in the Pleasant Bay area.
“The main concern that he put forward was, without cellphone coverage, you’re not able to reach anybody in the case of an emergency,” she says. “There’s no coverage in that area at all.”
MacQuarrie says councillors would like to have seen this issue resolved by now, but she says ideally they’d have something worked out within the year.
