The warden of the Municipality of the District of Guysborough says they’re anxiously awaiting the opening of a new recreation facility.
Councillors voted to go forward with the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex, an $8,900,000 project, last April; ground was broken in May.
It includes an outdoor rink, a figure-eight skating loop, an artificial turf field and four-lane running track and a new community recreation centre.
After Wednesday’s regular municipal council meeting, Vernon Pitts, Warden, said some parts of the facility will open next month.
“We’re anxiously looking forward,” he said. “It’s going to be a soft launch opening first- June is going to be the grand opening.”
Pitts said the soft opening is May 29; the grand opening is June 29.
He said the project remains on budget.
