The Halifax Mooseheads have named their new head coach.
Team officials announced Eric Veilleux will be leading the club into their 2018-19 Memorial Cup run; Halifax is hosting the tournament.
Veilleux, 46, is coming to Halifax following two seasons as head coach of the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, who are the affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
He won the CHL’s Memorial Cup with the Shawinigan Cataractes in 2012, before coaching the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to two President’s Cup, the QMJHL’s championship, final appearances.
He’s the 11th head coach in team history; he holds a 347-208-45 record in the QMJHL.
Veilleux replaces Jim Midgley, who took over head coaching duties this past season; he was let go last week.
