The warden of Inverness Co. says budget deliberations are ongoing, but they hope to have the document finalized soon.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie says two meetings are scheduled for municipal officials.
She says grant requests are one of the bigger items in the 2018-19 fiscal plan; councillors were still receiving requests in mid-April.
After May’s regular municipal council meeting Monday afternoon, MacQuarrie told The Hawk they’d like to hold the line on tax rates.
“I think we have an all-out effort to maintain the tax rate, but we’re in the process,” she said. “We can’t really foretell as to whether that’s going to happen or not, (but) that’s what we’re aiming for.”
MacQuarrie said there are high capital construction costs to consider.
She said they hope to finalize and announce their budget at a special council meeting before the end of May.
