The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft in Shawinigan had a spotlight on the Cape Breton West Islanders including two cousins.
Cape Breton West Islander Chase Ellis was selected 50th overall in the 3rd round by Drummondville.
Ellis was a stand out this season with the Islanders…
His cousin Matthew Ellis was selected 110th overall in the 7th round by Rimouski.
Ellis’ brother Colten had an outstanding first season in net for Rimouski.
Their team-mate, Calum MacPherson will join the Ellis brothers in Rimouski. He was picked up 177th overall in the 10th round.
MacPherson finished 3rd in the Major Midget point race last season with 52.
Dell Welton is heading to Charlottetown…190th overall in the 11th round.
The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles’ first pick was Alex Drover of Halifax…he was selected 10th overall.
Meanwhile the Moosehead’s had the 12th pick and they selected Samuel Dube.
