One of two suspects from a First Nations community in Antigonish Co. charged with attempted murder is expected in court Wednesday.
Michael Kane, 36, of Paq’tnkek also faces counts of aggravated assault, uttering threats and several breaches in the case.
Kane, who has been in custody since his arrest, is expected for a bail hearing in Antigonish Provincial Court.
Nigel Henderson, 27, of Paq’tnkek faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and several breaches.
Henderson, who made his first court appearance in the case Monday, will remain in custody until his bail hearing June 28.
RCMP say officers responded to an assault involving three men, who were known to one another, on a roadway in Paq’tnkek just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
They say a 24-year-old Antigonish man was taken to hospital, and was released Sunday.
Police say both Kane and Henderson were arrested without incident- Kane in Paq’tnkek the same day as the incident, Henderson in Baddeck Friday night.
They say they continue to investigate, and more charges are anticipated.
