A man from Port Hawkesbury charged in connection with a drug bust has had a date set for his trial.
Joel Francis Hugh MacDonnell, 35, faces two drug charges and a pair of breaches after officers pulled over a driver for a cell phone infraction in Jan. 2017.
MacDonnell, who pleaded not guilty to his charges, had an Oct. 15 trial date set in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday; he’s also scheduled to return for a status update July 30.
He was sentenced to 18 months house arrest for theft, two possession of stolen property counts, and a firearms offence following an Inverness Co. firearms theft in March 2017.
Police say someone broke into a Creignish-area home and stole seven different guns, a crossbow, several types of ammunition and a generator in Aug. 2016.
