Two former members of the X-Men football team charged following a sexual assault investigation at StFX are scheduled to return to court Friday.
Jonah Williams, 20, of Halifax has been charged with three counts of sexual assault against two different women; Tyler Ball, 19, of Truro faces a single count of sexual assault.
Both elected Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge-and-jury trials- Williams in relation to one of his alleged incidents- during an election-and-plea hearing in February; their preliminary inquiries, which will determine if there’s enough evidence to send their cases to trial, opened with two days in Antigonish Provincial Court June 11-12.
Those hearings are expected to resume Friday.
Williams has pleaded not guilty to his two other alleged incidents, and is scheduled to stand trial on those matters Sept. 10-11.
The pair played defensive back for StFX- Williams was in the team’s starting line-up, Ball was not.
Neither Williams nor Ball are still with the X-Men football program.
RCMP say an 18-year-old told them she was sexually assaulted on campus in November; that led a 19-year-old to come forward and report two separate cases of sexual assault on campus.
