The Strait Pirates have made a trade just ahead of their season opener.
The Pirates have acquired Brandon Dauphnee and Jacob Keagan from the Miners.
Dauphnee, a 20-year-old forward from Glace Bay, spent three seasons in the Maritime Hockey League, most recently with St. Stephen; he’s a former affiliate player with the Pirates.
Keagan, a 19-year-old forward from North Sydney, was considered a key member of the Miners’ Don Johnson Cup-winning team in 2017-18.
The Miners get Ryan Lawless, Cody Hinkley, the Pirates’ 2019 waiver pick (to be used once) and future considerations.
The Pirates open their 2018-19 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season at home against Liverpool Friday night.
