An elderly man from Richmond Co. charged with 12 sexual offences is scheduled to return to court in the spring.
RCMP say they charged Delmore Boudreau, 90, of Petit-de-Grat following an eight-month investigation into allegations of historical sexual assault in May 2018.
They say their investigation started when one victim came forward; a total of nine victims were identified.
Police say the victims were between the ages of four and 12 at the time of the offences, which took place on Isle Madame between 1966 and 1986.
Boudreau elected a trial by judge and jury in Nova Scotia Supreme Court during an election-and-plea hearing in May 2018; his 13-day preliminary inquiry, which determines if there is enough evidence to send a case to trial, was expected to get underway in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday.
Things never got that far, as the hearing was withdrawn Oct. 5; he’s now scheduled to return to court to stand trial May 27, 2019.
