Four candidates have come forward to run in a special election in the Town of Port Hawkesbury.
The deadline for potential candidates to file nomination papers was 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Maris Freimanis, Blaine MacQuarrie, Dave Ryan and Michele Tabensky will run for the town’s vacant council seat.
Freimanis previously served as chief administrative officer in Port Hawkesbury and Richmond Co., MacQuarrie is a social worker, and Ryan and Tabensky both ran for town council and lost in the 2016 municipal elections.
The special election, which takes place Dec. 15, was called after Jeremy White, a former town councillor, moved outside town limits, and his council seat was vacated in September.
