It’s special election day for a vacant council seat in the Town of Port Hawkesbury.
The seat became available after Jeremy White, who was elected in 2016, moved outside town limits and left council in September.
Four candidates are on the ballot- Maris Freimanis, Blaine MacQuarrie, Dave Ryan and Michele Tabensky.
Freimanis previously served as chief administrative officer in Port Hawkesbury and Richmond Co., MacQuarrie is a social worker, and Ryan and Tabensky both ran for town council and lost in the 2016 municipal elections.
Polls at the SAERC gym open at 8 a.m., and close at 7 p.m.; you can get results here and on our Facebook Fan Page as soon as they’re available.
Two days of advance polling took place Dec. 8 and Dec. 11.
