The Strait Pirates host a divisional opponent in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
They play the Pictou Co. Scotians.
The Pirates (19-2-1), winners of back-to-back games and 14 of their last 15, lead the Sid Rowe Division- and the entire league- with 39 points, six points up on the Miners for first in the division, and two points up on East Hants for top spot overall.
The Scotians (13-8-0) are tied with Antigonish for third in the division with 26 points.
Taylor Lambke, the head coach of the Pirates, tells The Hawk they’re pretty familiar with Pictou Co. at this point in the season, so they know what they have to do to be successful.
“I think we just have to have a good forecheck (and) put pressure on their defence- we’ve got to make sure we execute our game plan, play fast (and) play the way we want to play,” he says. “(We have to) stay disciplined- I think they have a good power play, so we want to stay out of the box and focus on playing five-on-five.”
It’s the fourth and final regular season game between the teams- the Pirates won the first three by a combined score of 17-3.
Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7:30 p.m.
The Pirates meet the Miners in Membertou Sunday afternoon.
