The first phase of Destination Reeves St. is well underway, but questions are being raised regarding what the final product will look like.
Town councillors in Port Hawkesbury shared concerns traffic light updates were no longer part of the project during September’s regular meeting Tuesday.
After the meeting, Brenda Chisholm-Beaton, Port Hawkesbury’s mayor, told The Hawk town officials will send a letter to Lloyd Hines, the province’s transportation minister and the MLA for Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie.
“We need a little bit of articulation with regard to NSTIR in terms of the plan that they have for those intersections, so we will definitely be sending off another correspondence,” she said. “It’ll be important to get some articulation on what is the long-term plan for those intersections, and at which point would any planed changes for those intersections occur.”
Chisholm-Beaton said they’ll send that letter soon.
She said councillors put their support behind Destination Reeves St. based on a February meeting with TIR officials.
“Part of that approval of that particular motion to unanimously support Reeves St. would have hinged on some of those finer points.”
Chisholm-Beaton said those points are becoming less clear.
