Plans for new Port Hawkesbury park moving ahead

A spokesperson with the Strait Highlands Regional Development Agency says it's time to start drumming up support for a proposed park in Port Hawkesbury.

The final plans have been drawn up for the green space; it would be developed at the site of the old wastewater treatment facility.

Amanda Mombourquette tells The Hawk the plan is designed to be spread out.

"At first glance, it looks like a grand vision, and it really is- but it's a place that deserves such a vision," she says. "We've looked at developing this plan over a 20-year period, so it's not a cost situation that would be born immediately."

Mombourquette says ideas from a number of local groups have been incorporated into the final plan.

She says the RDA will look for support from local groups first, then move on to look for funding.
