Antigonish town council trying to find more options for skateboarders

Antigonish's mayor says the town is looking into more options for skateboarders.

Last month, the Antigonish Highland Skateboarding Association made a presentation to town council.

Members asked for town support for a temporary half pipe at Columbus Field until a permanent park is in place.

At Monday night's monthly meeting, Mayor Carl Chisholm said the request for a temporary site was turned down but the town is still trying to work something out.

"Two other suggestions come up in the closed committee of the whole and I said I would check into them,” he said.

“ I would pursue them and if something can be done we are going to try and work with them to get something going for them and again sooner rather than later, we are halfway through our summer almost."

Chisholm said the decision on the temporary half pipe was made by the Columbus Club, because the club owns Columbus Field.
