Clarke taking at a shot at federal politics

Another Tory MLA is leaving provincial politics.

Cape Breton North MLA Cecil Clarke is set to make an announcement regarding his political future in Sydney at noon Thursday.

Clarke hasn't said what his plans are, but The Hawk has learned he plans to run in the Sydney-Victoria riding whenever the next federal election is called; he will stay on in Cape Breton North in the meantime.

When Clarke does depart, he'll become the fourth Tory caucus member to leave since the last provincial election.

Rodney MacDonald, Angus MacIsaac and Richard Hurlburt have all stepped down as MLAs for various reasons.
