CBU Women’s Hockey Club holds celebration for local athlete

The Women’s Hockey Club at Cape Breton University is holding an event to celebrate the accomplishments of a local hockey player.

A celebration for Baddeck native Jessica Wong is being held Friday at the Joan Hariss Cruise Pavilion and will celebrate all that Wong has done in hockey and to wish her well in the upcoming year.

Wong had the overtime goal at the NCAA Women's National Championship to lead her team to gold in her rookie year.

She scored two goals including the winner for Canada at the U22 World Championships.

Most recently she won the Female Team Athlete of the Year Award at the 2010 Ricoh Awards.
