Hurricane Earl making its way to the Quad Counties

There has been a tropical storm watch put in place for the Quad Counties.
Hurricane Earl is currently traveling as a category two storm; it is set to hit the province as a category one hurricane with winds gusting to 120 km/h.
Program Supervisor for the Canadian Hurricane Centre, Chris Fogarty tells The Hawk the storm will bring high winds to the area.
"The winds will be out of the south east so that would bring them up the Canso Strait," he says. "That could cause a little bit of enhancing of the winds there. So I expect high winds Saturday for sure."
Fogarty says residents need to prepare themselves.
"Understanding the impact of winds that can come with these types of storms is critical," he says. "When we get wind gusts in the 100 to 120 km/h range this time of year with the trees, you will get branches breaking there will be power outages that could last a little while."
The storm is expected to hit Saturday.
There has been a wind warning and a tropical storm watch put into effect in the Quad Counties.
