Pair arrested in drug bust, weapons seizure elect Supreme Court trial

A 51-year-old man and 49-year-old woman charged in relation to a weapons seizure and drug bust in Antigonish Co. have elected trial in Supreme Court.

Police have charged Michel Daviau and Barbara Beatrice Bobak with production, possession for the purpose of trafficking and 12 weapons offences.

They pleaded not guilty to the possession charge in Antigonish Provincial Court Wednesday; they elected trial by judge and jury in Nova Scotia Supreme Court on the rest.

They're scheduled for a preliminary inquiry April 16.

Police say members of the Antigonish/Guysborough RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit found an indoor marijuana grow operation with a number of marijuana plants, dried marijuana, a number of firearms and a large amount of Canadian and US cash when they searched a Dunmore home on Hwy. 316 in November.
