Top line leads Pirates to win

The Strait Pirates got a boost from Marc Bourgeois' return to the lineup.

The Pirates beat the visiting Glace Bay Jr. Miners 3-1 at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre Thursday.

The line of Bourgeois, Jeremy Sheppard, and Nick Allard accounted for two of the three Pirates' goals.

After the game, coach Tim MacMillan told The Hawk reuniting the team's top line will be big down the stretch.

"They're just one of the best lines in the league, period," he says. "There was going to be a little rust, but Marc played more minutes and better than I thought he would, given how long he's been off- you wait until he gets going."

Randy Henley and Sheppard scored six seconds apart to take the lead, and Allard added the insurance marker; Bourgeois had two assists.

The win gives the Pirates a three point lead on the Antigonish Bulldogs in the Sid Rowe division heading into Friday's home game against the Cumberland Co. Blues.
