Pair charged in Inverness Co. drug bust expected back in court in February

Two suspects arrested in an Inverness Co. drug bust have had their cases adjourned.

Jeffery Neil Bernard, 49, and Rachel Phillips, 45, who are both from We'koqma'q, face counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and cultivation of marijuana.

They were expected for election-and-plea in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday; they said they were applying for Legal Aid, and their hearings were adjourned until Feb. 27.

Their cases were adjourned in June, September twice in October, and again in November, the last time when they asked for time to find a new lawyer.

RCMP say officers seized marijuana, oxycodone tablets, drug paraphernalia and cash when they searched a We'koqma'q home in February.
