Cases adjourned for men charged in Port Hawkesbury drug busts

Two suspects charged in separate Port Hawkesbury drug busts have had their cases adjourned.

Twenty-six-year-old Dexter Brett Sutherland of Port Hawkesbury faces four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two breaches in relation to a traffic stop on Embree Island Road in January.

Police say they found cocaine, oxycodone and marijuana when they pulled over two vehicles for a traffic infraction.

Avery John Sutherland of Antigonish has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking following a Reeves Street traffic stop one week later.

RCMP say they seized oxycodone, marijuana and cash before finding more oxycodone pills, along with cocaine and marijuana when they searched a home.

Both men were in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on Monday; their cases were adjourned until March 27.
