Man in ICU following Antigonish Co. collision, say RCMP

Police say a man is in intensive care in Halifax following a two-car collision in Antigonish Co.

Sgt. Warren McBeath of the Antigonish detachment says police were called to the collision on Hwy. 104 in Tracadie just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

He says an eastbound car lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic.

Each car had one male occupant; both men were taken to St. Martha's Hospital.

One of the men was treated and released, while the other was airlifted to the QEII in Halifax because of a serious head injury.

McBeath says the blowing snow at the time of the collision made for poor road conditions and visibility, and that drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors.

He says the highway was closed for two hours as part of the investigation.
