Antigonish lawyer appointed to provincial bench

An Antigonish man is one of four new judges appointed to the Provincial and Family Courts of Nova Scotia.

Samuel Moreau is currently a managing lawyer with Nova Scotia Legal Aid in Port Hawkesbury.

He has practiced law for 18 years, and he previously sat on the board of the Council on African Canadian Education.

Friday's appointments also bring the province closer to gender parity on the bench, as the other three new judges (Rickcola Brinton, Amy Sakalauskas, and Rosalind Michie) are women.

Out of the 38 full-time Provincial and Family Court judges in Nova Scotia, 18 are women.
