The MP for Cape Breton-Canso and the MLA for Cape Breton-Richmond met in Port Hawkesbury to announce funding for a town project, as well as the transfer of a long-coveted parcel of land on Reeves Street.
Rodger Cuzner and Michel Samson joined Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton for the announcement at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre on Friday morning.
It was revealed that the federal government will contribute $2.4 million toward the construction of the Tamarac booster station and water system rehabilitation on Pitt and Napean streets.
The provincial government and Town of Port Hawkesbury will spend $1.2 million each on the project.
Samson also announced that a six-acre parcel of land on Reeves Street would be transferred to the town.
The land was the site of the former Canso Regional Vocational School, which was demolished in 2004.
