Pirates name Antigonish native head coach

The Strait Pirates have a new head coach.

Taylor Lambke has been hired as the team's new bench boss ahead of the 2017-18 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season; he signed a three-year agreement with the Pirates.

Lambke, an Antigonish native, spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League- three with Acadie-Bathurst, and one in Rouyn-Noranda, where he served as an alternate captain during his overage season.

He also played with the Antigonish Bulldogs and Miramichi in the Maritime Junior "A" Hockey League.

Lambke spent the last two seasons as the head coach of the Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals high school hockey team.

Dave Marston, the Pirates' former coach who spent three years behind the bench, stepped down after the 2016-17 season.
