Inverness Co. suspect facing drug charges expected in court

A man from Inverness Co. man arrested in relation to a drug bust is scheduled to return to court Monday.

Kenneth John Googoo, 52, has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and a breach after officers searched a We'koqma'q home and seized marijuana products, pills and cash in February; he's expected for an election-and-plea hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.

Googoo also faces possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis and oxycodone and possession of a prohibited weapon charges after Inverness and Victoria RCMP and members of the Street Crime Enforcement Unit searched a We'koqma'q home in December.

RCMP say they found marijuana, oxycodone and brass knuckles, which are considered a prohibited weapon.

The We'koqma'q man, who pleaded not guilty to his charges in April, started his trial in that case in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Tuesday; it's scheduled to resume Sept. 21.
