Power outage on Cape Breton Island mostly restored

A spokesperson with Nova Scotia Power says a Cape Breton outage reported at 11:20 a.m. was caused by fault on the transmission line.

David Rodenhiser says the line runs through Port Hastings to Aberdeen and effected about 10, 500 customers.

He says the crews had most service restored at 12:50 p.m.

Rodenhiser says systems indicate the fault was in the range of 22-36 kilometres from Port Hastings; an aerial trip near the line will help crew confirm that.

There are still over 800 customers without power.
