Gift honouring help following Halifax Explosion to be sent to Boston from Inverness Co. family

A family from the Quad Counties will be sending a Christmas tree to Boston this year as a thank you for help provided following the Halifax Explosion.

Bob and Marion Campbell, along with their family, are sending the annual gift from Inverness Co.

The Blues Mills family will have an official tree-cutting ceremony for the 53' White Spruce on their property, Nov. 15.

Officials say several hundred students from Whycocomagh Education Centre, We'koqma'q Mi'kmaw School and Inverness Education Centre will be on hand for the ceremony; they will be joined by Waycobah officials, Margaret Miller, Minister of Natural Resources and Santa Claus.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the explosion; the tree will be sent off from Halifax Nov. 17.

The tree sent last year was also from Inverness Co.
