Provincial funding announced for first responder groups in Quad Counties

A number of volunteer first responder groups from the Quad Counties are receiving provincial funding.

Government officials say the funding comes from the Emergency Services Provider Fund; it's provided to purchase necessary safety equipment.

They say officials with volunteer fire departments, hazardous materials teams and ground search and rescue organizations can apply for the funding- up to 75 per cent of new safety equipment costs, to a $20, 000 maximum.

The local winners are as follows:

Blues Mills Volunteer Fire Department - $16,206.81
Baddeck Volunteer Fire Department - $20,000.00
Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department - $20,000.00
Milford Haven Fire and Emergency Services - $20,000.00
Liscomb Volunteer Fire Department - $13,856.06
Loch Lomond Volunteer Fire Department - $2,421.80
North East Margaree Volunteer Fire Department - $18,728.51
St. Andrews and District Volunteer Fire Department - $17,201.01
Tracadie and District Volunteer Fire Department - $20,000.00
