Pair of local students earn provincial scholarships

Two local high school students have earned provincial scholarships.

Patrick Wallace, of Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School, will receive a scholarship for an engineering diploma at StFX.

William Pettipas, of East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy, earned the award for heavy duty equipment/truck and transport at Nova Scotia Community College.

They're two-of-16 students throughout the province to earn the recognition.

Officials say the provincial energy scholarship is handed out to students pursuing energy-related post-secondary studies, to help brighten the province's energy future.

They say the awards are for $2, 500; they're renewable for four years for university institutions- the NSCC scholarship is a one-time award.
