Roads a continuing concern in Inverness Co.

Municipal officials in Inverness Co. say they're still trying to get a meeting with Lloyd Hines, Transportation Minister and MLA for Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie, to discuss road concerns.

Betty Ann MacQuarrie, Warden, says that might mean a trip to Halifax to have the meeting, but they want to avoid that expense.

She says brush clearing is a huge part of the work; it's a visibility issue when you're pulling out from a connecting road.

MacQuarrie tells The Hawk there's no immediate timeline for when the work could be done.

"They wanted to do that this year, but the funding just wasn't there," she says. "I think that's what the meeting with the minister will be all about- if there's some way of trying to get a little more funding to finish the programs and projects that the Department of Transportation would like to do."

MacQuarrie says municipal staff have brought up a lot of road concerns to area managers, district managers and two engineers.
