Local sports preview (Sunday)

Both of the local teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League are on the road for divisional match-ups.

The Pirates, third in the five-team Sid Rowe Division, wrap up a home-and-home series against the Pictou Co. Scotians, who sit second in the division, in Trenton at 7 p.m.; the Scotians won the first game of the weekend series in Port Hawkesbury Friday night.

The Antigonish Bulldogs travel to Springhill to take on the Cumberland Co. Blues at 7:30 p.m.

The teams are at the bottom of the Sid Rowe Division- Antigonish is fourth, Cumberland Co. is last.

It's the fourth straight Sunday the teams have met- the Bulldogs have won the first three games.

The Northern Selects are on the road for their only game of the weekend in the Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League.

They visit the Penguins.

Game time in East Hants is 11 a.m.

The Novas play their second home game in as many days in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Novas, coming off a loss against Bedford in Antigonish, host the Western Hurricanes, who are fourth in the 12-team league.

It's the third and final regular season game between the teams- the Hurricanes have won the first two.

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 12:30 p.m.

St. Andrews' Declan Smith, Beaver Meadow's Ryan MacLellan and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles host the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Screaming Eagles won in Moncton Friday night; the Foreurs are coming off a loss against the Mooseheads in Halifax Saturday night.

It's the first game of the season between the teams.

Puck drop at Centre 200 in Sydney is 4 p.m.
