Former town office in Mulgrave expected to be demolished soon

Councillors in Mulgrave have approved a demolition tender for their former town hall.

Staff members and councillors left their old location because of the age of the building and the repairs that were needed.

They moved into office space in the Strait Superport building last month.

After Monday night's regular town council meeting at the Mulgrave Fire Hall, Ralph Hadley, Mayor, told The Hawk councillors voted to go ahead with the demolition.

"He said he can do it within a week-to-10 days; he mentioned he may get it as early as this week," he said. "I'm hoping we can get it done before the end of December- clean it up and get (it) all put away."

Hadley said town officials own the building but not the property, so they're paying rent on the property until the building is removed.

He said the winning bid was roughly $11, 000; $10, 000 less than the only other bid they received.
