Some delays on road work, but progress being made

Officials in the Town of Port Hawkesbury say they're a little behind schedule for road work in the town.

Brenda Chisholm-Beaton, mayor of the town, says the Pitt and Napean St. project is progressing, but there's been some unforeseen delays.

She said they're in a town with lots of aged underground infrastructure and sometimes maps don't show the precise location of that infrastructure.

After Tuesday night's town council meeting, Chisholm-Beaton said they hope to keep things moving for the next little bit.

"There has been some stalls, but certainly, it is progressing," she said. "I think we will be able to get at least one coat of asphalt on the road in time, before the holidays."

Chisholm-Beaton said two coats of asphalt could be possible depending on the schedule.

She said residents have been patient throughout the process.

Chisholm-Beaton said moving forward, they will continue the work on Napean St. and move on to Pitt St. as soon as weather allows in the spring.
