Local sports preview (Tuesday)

Antigonish's Blade Mann-Dixon and the Halifax Mooseheads kick off 2018 in New Brunswick.

The Mooseheads visit Pleasant Valley's Jacob Hudson and the Moncton Wildcats.

Halifax (23-10-5) is second in the 18-team league with 51 points- one back of Blainville-Boisbriand for top spot, and one point ahead of Rimouski for third; Moncton (16-16-6) is 12th with 38 points- two points back of the two teams tied for 10th and two points ahead of the two teams tied for 13th.

Halifax has won two of the first three games in the season series between the teams.

Game time is 7 p.m.

 

The Cape Breton Highlands Academy/NDA Huskies kick off the New Year on home ice in the Cape Breton West High School Hockey League.

They're at home to face the Eskasoni Coyotes.

The Huskies (6-5-0) are fourth in the six-team league with 18 points- three points behind Dalbrae for third and one point ahead of the Coyotes (6-4-0) for fifth.

Puck drop at the Cabot Trail Arena in Cheticamp is 7:30 p.m.
