MacMaster says road work is a good start

An MLA in the Quad Counties says road work in his riding is a positive.

Allan MacMaster, MLA of Inverness, says a number of infrastructure projects will benefit Inverness Co.; provincial officials announced their capital budget about two weeks ago.

He says it'll be nice to see upgrades to Mabou Harbour Rd. and Cenotaph Rd.

MacMaster tells The Hawk work being done on the Captain's River Bridge will also have a positive impact.

"Anybody who has traveled to Port Hood from the southern part of Inverness Co. has crossed the bridge and probably felt quite a drop as they've crossed the bridge," he says. "It's a bridge that's been in need of repair for some time."

MacMaster says gravel roads will also be worked on; 6.7 kms of the East Skye Glen Rd., 3.4 kms of the Lake Ainslie Chapel Rd. and 5.6 kms of the Whycocomagh-Port Hood Rd. in Roseburn will have sections re-constructed.

He says road work is important regardless of if you're a local or a visitor.

"One thing that we can all appreciate from government is good roads when we have them- it's something many of us use every day getting to work," he says. "It's also important for visitors too; we want to ensure they have a good experience and that when they're coming here, they have good infrastructure to travel on."

MacMaster says the gravel road reconstruction will be a plus, but there's still a lot of need in Inverness Co.

The work is part of the annual capital plan from provincial officials.
