Local sports preview (Friday)

It's a busy night on ball diamonds in the Quad Counties.

The St. Joseph's Chiefs visit the Guysborough Broadhorns in a double-header in the AGR.

It's the season opener for the Broadhorns; the Chiefs (0-1) lost their first game of the season to St. Andrews June 16.

The first half of the twin bill at Drysdale Field in Guysborough is 7 p.m.

The St. Andrews Flyers take on the Heatherton Warriors.

The Warriors (1-0) won their first game of the season; the Flyers (1-2) are trying to even their record.

The teams met June 16- Heatherton won that game 13-5.

First pitch in St. Andrews is 7 p.m.

The Port Hawkesbury Bucs visit the Isle Madame Mariners in the Richmond Amateur Baseball Association.

The Bucs (4-3) and Mariners (4-3) are tied for second with identical records, two games back of league-leading Little Anse, and a half-game up on fourth-place Inverness.

It's the fourth game of the season between the teams; Port Hawkesbury has won two of the first three.

Game time at the Petit-de-Grat Ballfield is 6 p.m.
