Pirates host Bulldogs in latest edition of Battle of the Quad Counties

The Battle of the Quad Counties resumes in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League when the Strait Pirates host the Antigonish Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs (10-11-2), winners of four straight and five of their last six, are third in the five-team Sid Rowe Division with 22 points, eight points behind Pictou Co. for second, and three points up on the fourth-place Pirates (8-10-3), who have just one win in their last six games and sit 16 points ahead of last-place Cumberland Co.

Taylor Lambke, the head coach of the Pirates, tells The Hawk it will take a complete effort from start to finish to get a win against their rivals.

"They're a hard-working team, they defend well," he says. "We're just going to have to make sure we do the little things and play a full 60 (minutes) and we should be OK."

The Pirates have won the first two games in the six-game season series.

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7:30 p.m.

It's the last game for both teams before the Christmas break.
