The X-Men (12-1-2), who have won four straight and are ranked fourth in the country, move into a tie with UNB for top spot in the seven-team conference with 26 points, five points ahead of third-place Saint Mary's.

StFX has won three of the first four games in the five-game season series between the teams.

Dalbrae Dragons - 0

The win moves the Saints (5-4-1) into top spot in the six-team league with 16 points, two points up on the second-place Dragons (5-2-0).

The teams have split the first two games in the season series.

Cape Breton goals: Brooklyn Kalmikov (2), Jordan Ty Fournier, Leon Gawanke

St. Andrews' Declan Smith had a pair of assists for Cape Breton; Beaver Meadow's Ryan MacLellan was also in the line-up.

The Screaming Eagles (12-10-2), who have lost three of their last four, are tied with Sherbrooke for 10th in the 18-team league with 26 points, a point back of Charlottetown for ninth, and a point ahead of 12th-place Val-d'Or.

The season series is tied 2-2.

StFX soccer player wins athlete of the month

A StFX soccer player has been named athlete of the month in the conference.

Midfielder Dan Hayfield has taken the AUS men's honour; he had at least a point in each of his five games played last month.

He scored seven points over the five-game stretch.
