Bomb threats are becoming a concern in Strait Region Schools.
Since schools opened in September the Strait Regional School Board has had to deal with 2 bomb threats; one at Pleasant Bay in September and just over a week ago another at Inverness Academy.
School Board Superintendent Jack Beaton says it's something they're not used to.
"It's been a number of years since we've had serious bomb threats in this board," says Beaton, "there have been sporadic ones within the last 4 or 5 years and there may have been a spade of them 10 or so years ago, but they're not common in this board."
Beaton says they are encouraged there was an arrest in the second incident and it shows there are ways of catching people and that there will be consequences.
In both cases the schools had to be evacuated and searched by a bomb-sniffing dog. |
