A traditional school practice may soon be a mandatory policy at Strait Region Schools.
At the regular monthly meeting Wednesday night the school board passed a new test policy governing the playing of the Canadian National Anthem.
Board Chair Mary Jess MacDonald says the idea came from outside the Strait Regional School Board.
"The direction came from the province that we should have a policy in place for that," says MacDonald. "So really it came from an incident somewhere else in Canada."
The proposed policy requires the national anthem to be played at the start of each school day and at special events.
The policy will be open to public input for a three-week period before coming to the board as an official motion as early as next month. |
