The power is back on in Canso

The town went black early Friday morning forcing the Academy to cancel classes and a number of businesses to close.

A Nova Scotia Power representative tells The Hawk the problem was likely at a sub-station in the area.

Meanwhile the weather is playing havoc with travellers.

We have reports of cars of the highway in a number of areas including the 104 and 105 on Cape Breton.

Drivers are saying roads are icy in some areas while others complain of water accumulation.

Best advice...slow down.
