There was a small fire at East Antigonish Education Centre and Academy Friday.

Fire crews from Tracadie were called in and students were evacuated in the morning after smoke filled the school.

A small motor in the technology education shop overheated and caught fire and fire crews were called in.

All students are fine...and were sent home early.

The school will be examined over the weekend to determine if school can resume Monday.

The school will be open from 10am-12 Saturday for students & staff to pick up their belongings.
